OUR HISTORY:
TEXT AND TIMELINE IN THE SAME STRIP
Anglo was founded in 1956 by a group of Colombian and British citizens. We are a private, co-educational and non-denominational institution, committed to quality and to the formation of well-rounded students.
We are one of the pioneer schools in Colombia in the implementation of the International Baccalaureate curriculum, from pre-kinder to grade 11, and we have been accredited by the Council of International Schools since 1998.
At the Anglo, traditions and innovation converge, always seeking safety, well-being and the best opportunities and tools for our students.
OUR FOUR
VALUES ARE:
Honesty:
We are committed
to the truth in all the actions
of our lives.
Responsibility:
Integrity, inner strength
and self-discipline guide
our obligations and actions.
Respect:
We value others’ differences
in thinking, feeling,
being or acting.
Solidarity:
We are empathetic
and willing to
support others.
EL ANGLO WAS THE FIRST SCHOOL IN COLOMBIA
TO IMPLEMENT THE TRADITIONAL
BRITISH HOUSE SYSTEM.
The groups are called houses because the UK boarding schools gave names to the houses in which their students lived and created competitions in academic, cultural and sporting activities between the houses in which they slept.
One of the most important aspects of this system is that it is cross-cutting and generates a sense of family, and builds students’ sense of solidarity, loyalty and healthy competition.
All Anglo students, alumni and staff belong to Beatty, Hood, Nelson or Rodney.
We will always be a school:
-
IB* and committed to
continuous improvement. - Promoter and ambassador of its values.
-
Inclusive and involved with
neurodiversity. -
Dedicated to academic excellence and
comprehensive education. -
Open-minded to diversity in
all its forms. -
Educator of culturally
intelligent global citizens.
-
With a robust team of local
and foreign professionals. -
Respectful of all beliefs,
non-denominational. - Use the British school house system to promote teamwork, commitment, identity, healthy competition and school values.
- Encouraged leadership.
- Believer that campus life is an integral part of the student experience.
- Committed to social and environmental responsibility.
Government and Leadership
We are a non-profit institution offering education of the highest quality. We have a team of the best professionals, building an infrastructure suitable for safety, well-being and learning and generating the best opportunities for its students.
The Anglo has a robust government formed by the Board of Governors with members elected by parents and other co-opted members who guarantee the maintenance of the school’s DNA and the continuity of the strategic development plan.
The Board of Governors, with the support of the school’s leadership team, creates the guidelines and designs the strategic plans for the short, medium and long term. The rector and the leadership team implement these plans with the rest of the academic and administrative staff.
In addition, the school has a Directive Council of the School Government, made up of parent representatives from all grades of the school, which annually approve modifications to our Institutional Educational Project, among other responsibilities.
Likewise, the Parents’ Council, the Teachers’ Council, the Academic Council and the different student government positions, which include the Prefects and House Captains, are key in this collaborative work of creating and implementing the strategic objectives in which all the voices of the Anglo Community are taken into account.
Government and Leadership
- Develop students who live the values of the school and take pride in it.
- Ensure that students achieve personal academic excellence and develop as whole people.
- To recruit, develop and retain the best talent, both local and overseas.
- To foster in students a global mindset and pride in our British and Colombian heritage.
- To ensure that the social and environmental impact of our community is positive.
- Encourage the school-home partnership.
- Provide a safe and secure environment for our students.
- Enrich the campus experience.
- Ensure that governance and leadership support the school's mission and vision.
- To be recognised as the best IB* school in Latin America.
OUR ALLIANCE WITH
TECHNOLOGY
We believe in recruiting and retaining the best people, and in the importance of having the best tools to deliver the highest quality education.
We are an Apple Distinguished School and recognise the power of technology as a tool for teaching and learning processes, as well as for lowering barriers to education, information accessibility, effective communication and student motivation. Our technological infrastructure allows us to overcome these limitations, offering an enriched educational environment adapted to current needs.
